INLIGHT SOLUTIONS’ DIABETES SCREENING RESULTS PROMISING
ALBUQUERQUE, NM - February 10, 2004 – InLight Solutions’ recent scientific results indicate that noninvasive measurements of skin fluorescence should be useful for diabetes screening. Results support the hypothesis that noninvasive fluorescence spectroscopy can provide a direct measurement of skin collagen AGEs. As a consequence of the study, InLight Solutions is investigating the merits of noninvasive fluorescence spectroscopy of the skin for AGE quantification. InLight Solutions’ scientists are optimistic that the in vivo method could one day replace FPG and OGTT measurements for diabetes screening.
InLight Solutions’ Senior Research Scientist Edward Hull, Ph.D. will present the paper entitled “Use Of Fluorescence And Near-Infrared Spectroscopies For Noninvasive Measurement Of Skin-Collagen Advanced Glycation Endproducts: A Feasibility Study” at the Optical Society of America’s Biomedical Optical Spectroscopy and Diagnostics Topical Meeting on Wednesday, April 14, 2004. The conference will be held April 14-17, 2004 at the Fontainebleau Hilton, Miami Beach, Florida.
